Consider this. Every year between now and 2020 China has to build the equivalent number of aged care beds as Australias current total supply 214,000 new beds. They have 40,000 aged care facilities now with 3.15 million beds (ave 80 beds each). 176 million Chinese are aged 60+ today 13% of the population. This grows to 18% or 243 million people in 8 years time (2020). To maintain the current ratio of beds (2% of people 60+) China will need to build another 1.71 million beds or 214,000 a year. That is 4,100 new beds every week for 8 years
