TriCare appeals Brisbane City Council while advocacy group ‘advises’ on care facility design

The Council had knocked back the village and aged care provider’s plan to build three high-rise towers at Taringa, 5km southwest of the CBD, after huge community opposition led by the Protect Taringa consumer advocacy group.

The group maintains it still supports an aged care facility at the site.

“However, we want a facility that incorporate … facilities that are as home-like as possible – not high-rise towers that are totally unsuitable for that purpose,” a spokesperson told Westside News.

They do not state their qualifications for such opinions.

It’s also despite Kingshome, a nine-storey, three tower residential unit block sitting directly south of the TriCare site. Kingshome residents also opposed the Taringa development.

Multiple high-rise aged care facilities are currently being built, including projects by Not For Profits.
