TriCare reveals new plans for Rochedale (QLD) seniors living resort

The aged care provider has revealed updated plans for an 11-hectare site in Rochedale – 20 kilometres south-east of Brisbane CBD – which it originally purchased for $15.3 million in 2007.

As we reported here, the provider announced plans to build a 250-unit retirement village, 200-bed aged care facility and 169-home ‘relocatable home park’ on the site last year – however these were met with community opposition over both the ‘home park’ element and the development’s proximity to nearby homes.

TriCare then purchased a neighbouring 4-hectare property for $10.8 million in January this year to cater for the extensive proposal.

According to The Courier Mail, a new development application now also includes 281 homes for seniors living to be managed as a “manufactured home park” with homes starting from $500,000.

The revised plans move the proposed retirement homes away from the boundary of adjoining neighbours and no longer includes a multi-storey aged care facility on the part of the site that is close to homes.

The development will be TriCare’s  sixth retirement community in QLD.
