A retirement village clubhouse and an apartment building designed for older Australians have won in the Good Design Awards’ Architectural Design Commercial and Residential category.
A gold award went to the clubhouse at Lifestyle Communities’ Mount Duneed village (pictured above), designed in partnership with DKO Architecture, which replaced a previous clubhouse that was “small, dark, closed-in, and barely used”. The new, more open design has more of a communal focus, and takes inspiration from local Aboriginal artwork of people gathered around a watering hole.
Best in class for the category went to the Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service Newman Clinic Healthcare Hub in Newman, WA.
