UK local council hands out 33,000 personal alarms

Essex County Council has spent ?4 million to provide ‘telecare’ alarms to residents aged over 85, linked to a 24 hour response call centre operated by Tunstall. A sample of 240 users indicates a savings of ?3.60 for each ?1.00 invested.
