The Department of Human Services acknowledges it has up to 10,000 people in need of residential aged care that cannot be processed due to a failure of Centrelinks computer systems. They were not ready to process income and assets testing introduced on 1 July.
The assessment is now required to identify how much the residents will have to contribute to their aged care. The Department is manually carrying out the calculations and issuing the determination letters.
