Victoria chalks up fourth consecutive day of zero new cases as state records lowest number of active cases since March

Victoria reported its lowest active caseload since the start of the first wave, as the state recorded its fourth consecutive day with no new cases.

There were just 38 active cases, state-wide.

This is the lowest number since April 29, where 45 active cases were reported.

Active cases in Victoria have been tracked since March 19, and at the peak of the second wave the state had recorded 6,776 active cases.

Of the active cases, just three (7%) were linked to aged care settings.

The state’s death toll remained steady, as zero new deaths were recorded.

The 14-day rolling average of new cases stood at 1.9 in metropolitan Melbourne, with another 0-day recorded in regional Victoria.

And there were just two Victorians in hospital with COVID-19, with none in ICU.

In Victoria’s daily COVID-19 briefing, Health Minister Martin Foley discouraged Victorians from looking to find loopholes in restrictions.

"We want to make sure that people of good faith... do the right thing and we use the 10-person gathering rule outside as it was intended, to get together with family and friends,” he said.
