WA cyclone impacts remote aged care homes

Aged care homes in regional Australia are struggling – and their problems are being compounded by the recent flooding in the north.

Russell Bricknell, Chief Executive Officer of aged care provider Juniper, told the Weekly SOURCE, “We have had water damage caused by the wind and heavy rainfall associated by ex-tropical cyclone Ellie.

“Our Fitzroy Crossing facility avoided being impacted by floods (the water reached to the road opposite the facility.

“The bigger issue now is both our Derby and Fitzroy Crossing facilities are cut off by road from the rest of the country.  Getting staff and supplies in is difficult and having repairs to buildings undertaken is taking longer than normal.”
