Preliminary approval for $150M ‘integrated wellness village’
A six-stage health and residential project on 2.83 hectares, which will be located just minutes from the new Toowoomba Hospital in Southern Queensland, has been given preliminary approval.
Toowoomba Regional Council unanimously supported Kenneth Pfitzner’s company Lifestyle Greenwattle for its “integrated wellness-focused residential precinct” in Cranley, a suburb 4.5km northwest of Toowoomba’s CBD.
According to the Council, Lifestyle Greenwattle proposes to:
- Build a mix of housing types including duplexes, multiple dwellings (townhouses and apartments), and a retirement facility;
- Protect the existing Moreton Bay Fig Tree, and provide this area as open space for the community to benefit;
- Provide a range of uses/activities to support the community in a non-residential use precinct, to include a gym, health care services, a pharmacy and other small-scale shops, and a smallscale food and drink outlet; and
- Include a childcare centre, to facilitate a program similar to that in CPL Production’s Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds that allows for an intergenerational learning program with retirement village residents.

The $150 million development, which was first proposed back in 2022, has six precincts covering health, retirement living, childcare, unit living, hospitality and fitness. Five of the precincts will be two storeys, with the sixth precinct sitting at three storeys.
The proposal does not allow further development without a new permit, unless it meets accepted development criteria.
