An early move by the new QLD Liberal Government has taken retirement villages out of the Department of Consumer Affairs and placed them in the Dept. Of Housing & Public Works. At the RVA Regional Conference, Mark Francis (Executive Director for Policy & Performance), stated villages and manufactured home parks are all about accommodation, not consumer disputes. Widely regarded as a positive move, it was also noted that only a small number of staff that know the RV sector also transferred so time will be required to educate the new ministry. That will be fast tracked as a new review of the QLD Act and sector was also announced. This means every state except the ACT has a legislative review in action all of which the RVA is attempting to manage.
