QLD Retirement Village Act changes to commence next month

Final amendments to the Retirement Villages Act will commence in November 2019. These changes will introduce:

plans for changes in village operations, such as village closure, redevelopment or transition to a new scheme operator
more standardised residence contracts for retirement villages
standard requirements for financial reports and budgets for retirement villages.

Amendments to the Retirement Villages Regulation to implement these changes to the law will occur in stages through to 2020.

66 recipients of Aged Care Capital Assistance Program grants announced

The Australia Government has announced 66 recipients of its Aged Care Capital Assistance Program with grants worth $300 million. The largest - a grant of more than $50 million - has gone to Southern Cross Care (QLD) to build a new 94-bed residential care home in Broken Hill, NSW.
