Last week the Queensland government announced the closure of the Eventide Aged Care campus at Brighton on Brisbanes North Side, consisting of 120 beds. The residents have to be relocated and 69 staff are losing their jobs, according to the Queensland Nurses Union. The Union also says Ashworth House at Zillmere and Cabool at Kippa-Ring have also been flagged for closure. An aged care facility in Rockhampton is also being targeted. The government has made no explanation and no mention was made in last weeks budget estimate hearings.
