Respect reaches 40 homes as sector continues to come knocking
Just weeks after revealing it now receives one acquisition enquiry a week, regional aged care operator Respect has announced its 40th home – welcoming Queensland provider Glenella Care into its growing network.
Just weeks after revealing it now receives one acquisition enquiry a week, regional aged care operator Respect has announced its 40th home – welcoming Queensland provider Glenella Care into its growing network.
The transition, expected to take effect from 1 December 2025, will see Glenella Care join Respect’s Not For Profit community, with a focus on continuity of care for residents and stability for existing staff. The move builds on Respect’s expansion across five states and its reputation as the organisation regional providers turn to when looking for a sustainable future.
Founded nearly 35 years ago as a 62-bed family-run nursing home in Mackay, Glenella Care has grown into a 108-bed home offering residential and respite services.
Respect CEO Jason Binder said Glenella’s decision echoed a wider sector trend.

“Glenella Care has been providing care for close to 35 years,” he said. “It was founded by a family who believed older people should be able to age with dignity, surrounded by the people and places they know and love. That belief is at the heart of everything we do at Respect.”
Glenella owner Renata Litton said the choice reflected confidence in Respect’s values and experience.
“Choosing the right organisation to carry on our legacy of care was essential,” she said. “We needed to be sure their values, reputation, and commitment to quality care aligned with everything Glenella stands for and Respect gave us that confidence.”
The milestone reinforces Respect’s position as one of Australia’s largest regional aged care operators – one that, as Jason said earlier this month, doesn’t go looking for acquisitions. “Boards come to us when they’re ready,” he told SATURDAY.
