With the Board looking to the future of less poker machine income and submitting a new clubhouse and 55 village apartments, a petition with 800 signatures and counting is being submitted to Council as a DA objection to the $77 million development.
The central criticism is that the new three-building development will dominate the suburb, despite the buildings being only three storeys high. Only 24 of the signatures were from the Club's members, less than 1% of its membership.
The RSL Club lodged the application for the new development in November last year, warning that the seniors’ living was needed to ensure the venue’s financial future.
