RVRA takes the lead in educating seniors on village costs
President Roger Pallant says the RVRA receives around 500 calls from residents annually, including a significant number on the financial costs of village life.
As part of its funding from NSW Fair Trading, the peak body for retirement village residents is rolling out a new education campaign on the true costs of village living.
The NSW Retirement Village Residents Association (RVRA) is producing three videos on financial aspects of life in a retirement village and six focused on Residents’ Committees.
Newly elected President Roger Pallant is fronting the series, with the first video covering the costs before you move into a retirement village. It will be followed by videos on the costs of living in a village and the costs you face when you exit.
Roger told The Weekly SOURCE the RVRA fields around 500 calls a year, with a significant number from residents – and their adult children – seeking clarity on contracts and fees.
“We put in a proposal to make these videos as we think they will be beneficial to anyone thinking of being in a retirement village, who is living in a retirement village or is concerned about when they leave,” Roger said.
The first video, on the upfront costs of moving into a retirement village, was released this week.
