Australian Community Housing names Mark Degotardi as inaugural CEO

Australian Community Housing (ACH) – formed in 2025 through the merger of Australian Community Housing Infrastructure and PowerHousing Australia – has appointed Mark Degotardi as its first Chief Executive Officer.

Mark has led the Community Housing Industry Association NSW (CHIA NSW) since 2019, where he drove major policy wins and improved outcomes for providers and tenants across the state.

“Mark is the right person to lead Australian Community Housing as we respond to the toughest housing challenge in memory,” said ACH Chair Rebecca Oelkers.

“Mark is a powerful advocate, proven problem solver and first-class policy mind. His proven track record of building strong, values-driven organisations and his deep understanding of the community housing landscape make him the perfect fit for this pivotal role.”

Mark said he relished the challenge of leading ACH.

“Community housing has an enormous role to play in confronting the housing crisis and I’m excited to join ACH and help drive the response,” he said. “As a new organisation, ACH has incredible potential to meet the moment and provide the strong, unified voice we need for community housing providers and their tenants.”

Beyond his industry experience, Mark has also served as Treasurer and Director of the NSW Council of Social Services (NCOSS) and as a Director on the World Council of Credit Unions board. His career spans policy development, media relations, and complex stakeholder management across government, community, and commercial sectors.
