17 three-bedroom homes, with a variety of floor plans, facades and designs, are being built to extend The Pines retirement village in North Plympton, a suburb of Adelaide.

The Not For Profit, which has 39 retirement villages in South Australia and Victoria, said the extensions will feature an alfresco in the rear yard and most will have double garages.

All homes will have age-in-place features. Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & VIC) has purposefully designed The Pines precinct as a healthy ageing hub, with co-located health and aged care services including:

• the village of 79 dwellings, four independent apartments and 17 proposed new homes;
• an adjacent affordable retirement living village of 52 units called O’Grady Court;
• a community centre which includes a heritage building called John Martin House; and
• a community garden with age-friendly raised beds along with a men’s shed.

Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & VIC) Inc. has engaged:

• Builder – Pascale Construction;
• Architect – Cube Architects;
• Services Engineer – BESTEC;
• Civil/Structural Engineer – Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec (WGA); and
• Landscape Architect – Albie Design.
