SwanCare makes big announcement about CEO
The Not For Profit and registered charity which provides home care, residential aged care and retirement living in Western Australia has revealed that its CEO has resigned.
Phil Martin’s departure on 10 February follows the resignations since December last year of RSL LifeCare CEO Janet Muir; Regis Aged Care Managing Director and CEO Linda Mellors; Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) CEO Monique Reynolds; and the recent retirement announcement of Uniting NSW & ACT CEO Tracey Burton.
“The SwanCare Board advises that Phil Martin has concluded his role as Chief Executive Officer, following his resignation, effective 10 February 2026. Phil has served as SwanCare’s CEO since May 2025,” said SwanCare in a statement on leadership changes.
Phil had served as Mercy Care’s Executive Director – Aged Care Services for just under four years, after previously acting as General Manager – Residential Aged Care before he was appointed SwanCare CEO.
The Board has appointed Darren Sumner, SwanCare’s Chief Corporate Services Officer, as Interim CEO.
SwanCare, chaired by Kim Hocking, said services and operations will continue as normal, with no change to service delivery, the organisation’s structure, or long-term strategic direction.
The Board will now commence a recruitment process for a permanent CEO.
SwanCare has four residential aged care homes located within Western Australia’s largest fully integrated retirement and aged care campus SwanCare Bentley Park, in Bentley, a southern suburb of Perth. The organisation also offers home care services in Bentley and the surrounding areas.
