A worrying sign that Sydney may also see an increase in aged care outbreaks.

Family-run operator Advantaged Care’s home at Prestons, 32km west of the Sydney CBD, has been closed to visitors after a confirmed case linked to the Casula hotel cluster visited a relative at the home last Thursday, 9 July – six days ago.

While no other cases have been identified, NSW Health says the home has been put into lockdown as a precaution.

Advantaged has released a statement, saying the home has had strict COVID-19 protocols in place since March.

“These protocols have been upgraded since reports of the test result and include the extensive cleaning of all areas utilizing a bio-fogging process, continued COVID-testing, a full lockdown of the facility to visitors and regular communication with the families of the residents,” it said.

Advantaged have five aged care homes across Sydney.
