Two SA aged care homes shut down after man returns from Victoria to Adelaide to stay with aged care worker mother and tests positive

Two aged care homes in Adelaide have gone into lockdown after staff members were confirmed as close contacts to a COVID-19 positive case.

The Ridleyton Greek Home for the Aged in Brompton, 5km north of the CBD, and Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & VIC)’s Philip Kennedy Centre Residential Care facility in Largs Bay, 16km northwest of the city, were immediately closed amid fears residents could become infected.

The man who tested positive to COVID-19 had returned from Melbourne a few days earlier and immediately went into self-isolation at his home, which he shares with his mother and aunt who are both aged care workers.

He has since been moved to hotel quarantine, and both of the workers have returned a negative COVID-19 result.

However, authorities say the two homes will continue to be closely monitored.
