Third.i tees off long-awaited retirement living project
“This project is more than just a development, it’s a community. The Merewether Residences will set a new standard for over-55s living, blending luxury, convenience, and social connection.”
After more than a decade in the making, Third.i Group, in partnership with Dexus Real Estate Partnership, has officially broken ground on its retirement living community at Merewether Golf Club in Newcastle.
The demolition of the Merewether Golf Club’s clubhouse has been completed, paving the way for construction of The Merewether Residences.
In the interim, temporary clubhouse facilities have been established to ensure members can continue to enjoy the club’s amenities without interruption. The golf course will remain fully operational throughout the entire construction period.

Positioned on the golf course, the development will deliver 178 apartments across four six-storey buildings, complemented by amenities including a wellness centre, spa, swimming pool, cinema, and a new clubhouse for residents and golf club members.
Designed by architects Marchese Partners | Life3A, and now overseen by EJE Architecture, The Merewether Residences has reportedly had strong pre-sales.

Luke Berry, Director and Co-founder of Third.i Group, said: “This project is more than just a development, it’s a community. The Merewether Residences will set a new standard for over-55s living, blending luxury, convenience, and social connection. The overwhelming response we’ve seen so far confirms that this is exactly what the market has been waiting for.”
Construction will be led by Decode Group, who are also delivering Third.i’s landmark Dairy Farmers Towers project in Newcastle.
The Merewether Residences is scheduled for completion in mid-2027, marking a significant milestone in Third.i’s growing pipeline of projects, which now exceeds $4.5 billion globally.
