Thompson Health Care’s $64.6M plan to rebuild aged care home
The existing 77-bed residential aged care facility (RAC) at 132-134 Beecroft Rd, Beecroft, a leafy suburb 22km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, has reached the end of its life – and will now be reimagined.
The proponent, DJ Thompson Family Trust/Northside Construction, has lodged a State Significant Development application to demolish the existing two-storey brick Beecroft House and replace it with a residential aged care facility comprising 132 beds and suites across five household wings within a single three-storey building above basement parking.
A single-storey cottage to the north-western portion of the site will be converted into a two-bedroom unit with ensuite, and connected to the main building.

New communal facilities are also proposed, including:
- Lounge/dining areas, function room, gym, café, cinema and bar area, being for resident use only;
- Kitchen and laundry facilities; and
- Nurse stations and serveries on each level.
Architectural Plans by MDP Architecture, a Survey Plan by Stutchbury Jacques Pty Ltd, and landscape design by Taylor Brammer are part of the current exhibition process.
Thompson Health Care’s Cheltenham House at 144 Beecroft Road is unaffected.
Thompson Health Care owns and operates 18 residential aged care homes in Sydney, the Central Coast and the Southern Highlands in NSW. Doug Thompson AM has managed the group for more than 50 years.
