The Melbourne-based aged care operator, which has a track record developing multi-generational healthcare precincts, wants to save a hospital.

Following TLC's approval last year of a $170 million Colosseum-style precinct in Hallam, which will include Australia's largest aged care facility at 270 beds, plus a day surgery, medical centre, early learning centre and aquatic centre, CEO Lou Pascuzzi says he would "relish the chance" to do something similar to save the dilapidated Rosebud Hospital on the state's Mornington Peninsula.

Locals have been campaigning to save the hospital for years.

The project would require TLC to enter into a public-private partnership (PPP) with the Victorian Government to bring the multi-generational healthcare model to life.

Lou said TLC could build a hospital, residential aged care, early learning centre, private hospital for day surgery, medical centre, aquatic centre, and gym on the site.

TLC would build and operate the infrastructure, but hand the public hospital back to the state government.
