Aged care provider diversifies: new Albany community centre opened

1 min read

Family-owned aged care operator Hall & Prior has opened the Jennifer Mary Grieve Home & Community Care Centre this week. The community centre sits alongside Clarence Estate aged care home in Albany, Western Australia, and is named after Clarence Estate’s long-time and esteemed executive manager, Jennifer Mary Grieve.

The community centre will be a base for a range of activities and services, including nursing and allied health, for people in the Great Southern region of Western Australia.

The centre has been 15 years in the making and was made possible with a $1 million grant from the Western Australian Government.

The new building will also be home to a mobile assessment service for communities such as Bremer Bay, Kojonup, Ongerup and Walpole – an example of how providers are diversifying their services to meet the needs of communities and provide alternative revenue streams.

Hall & Prior will operate the centre.

Premier Mark McGowan, who opened the centre, said, “This brand-new facility will help to deliver quality aged care services for people in Albany and right across the Great Southern, helping to ensure local people can age close to home.

“We remain committed to supporting country communities to receive world class healthcare and this investment is another way we're delivering for the Great Southern.”

Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said, “The opening of the Clarence Estate Community Centre will help ensure older residents in the Great Southern have even more access to dedicated nursing support as well as allied health and other therapeutic services.

“While the building may be physically located in Albany, we know the positive impact it will have will stretch as far as Bremer Bay, Kojonup, Ongerup and Walpole through the dedicated mobile service.”
