AN-ACC adds support for veterans in aged care

1 min read

Veterans, war widows and widowers in residential aged care will now have access to additional support under AN-ACC, irrespective of the level of care they are receiving.

Previously, the only Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients able to access Department-funded allied health services, aids, and appliances have been those with low levels of care; however, with the implementation of AN-ACC on 1 October, all DVA clients will have access regardless of care.

Matt Keogh, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs (pictured), said veterans, war widows and widowers will now all be able to access the care they need when they need it.

“All DVA clients will now have access to additional allied health services and rehabilitation aids and appliances in their residential aged care home on top of the services and aids already provided.

“DVA is here to help support veterans and families if further support is required,” he said.

The needs of veterans in aged care were brought up at the Royal Commission in 2019.
