The Independent Capability Review of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) has been handed over to the Albanese Government with 32 recommendations to reform and strengthen the regulator for the future.
The review – conducted by David Tune AO PSM, the former Secretary of the Department of Finance and Deregulation, who also chaired the 2016 Aged Care Legislated Review – was brought forward by the current Government last July with the aim of ensuring the regulator is “fit for purpose”.
While the report is still under consideration by the Government, Aged Care Minister Anika Wells said that the “comprehensive” final report includes 32 recommendation that “present opportunities to reform and strengthen the aged care regulator into the future and continue to build on its capabilities.”
“I thank Mr Tune and the review team for their service and everyone who contributed to the review through extensive stakeholder consultation or public submission processes,” said the Minister, who spoke at LEADERS SUMMIT 2023.
“The full report will be released with the Government’s response in due course.”
