A two-storey 115-bed aged care home will be built in Sefton, a suburb of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown local government area, 23km west of Sydney’s CBD, by a new operator.
Kevin Taylor, representing CareSpace Properties, said an aged care home was desperately needed within Sefton and Canterbury Bankstown.
“It’s important to note that the Canterbury Bankstown area and here where this facility is located has actually the lowest number of residential aged care beds per capita of anywhere in Sydney,” he said.
Canterbury Bankstown Local Planning Panel approved the application despite objections from a neighbouring school and residents, adding the State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing for Seniors or People with a Disability) 2004 (SEPP Seniors) aims to increase the supply and diversity of accommodation for seniors or people with a disability in NSW.
