One of the longest running CEOs in the village and care sector, Nieves Murray, has handed in a sudden resignation “due to personal circumstances”.

Ms Murray has been CEO of IRT since 2006 and in that time has grown the regional Not For Profit operator into the largest community based retirement and aged care operator in the country.

IRT dominates the South Coast of NSW, is significant in the ACT and over the last five years have expanded into SE Queensland.

Under her leadership IRT has also led research and innovations in ageing.

Her career commenced as the first female engineering cadet at the Lysaghts steelworks in Wollongong before moving into community support work with the local council and then IRT.

After nine years she moved to Australian Unity as Retirement Living General Manager, before returning to IRT as CEO.

She has been named as one of the 100 most influential women in Australia.
