The Thermal Detection System provided by Homestay Care Limited (HSC) is part of an assistive technology suite that will be installed in its 148-apartment three-tower development at Robina on the Gold Coast.
Founder and CEO Phil Usher (pictured right) says while they did not anticipate the current COVID-19 situation, the technology will help to protect residents by automatically denying access to anyone who has a core temperature above 37 degrees.
“If someone tries to walk through our doors, whether they’re a contractor or visiting friends or family and they have even a slight temperature over 37 degrees, the doors will lock, and we will receive a notification,” he said.
The development also features a communication system that allows residents to video chat anyone in the building, including staff and other residents, plus non-video personal monitors that monitor wellbeing, for example, detecting falls, and send alerts to a carer.
The project is expected to welcome its first residents in mid-2020.
