Percy Baxter Lodge: Regional VIC aged care home’s future uncertain amid low occupancy

1 min read

The future of Percy Baxter Lodge aged care home, which is owned by the Victorian Government and operated by Barwon Health, is uncertain, with only 15 residents living in the 93-bed home.

Flash flooding last year caused damage to the home, causing some residents to move out.

Kate Bibby, Barwon Health spokesperson, told The SOURCE that repairs to the home are underway.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that all aged care residents receive the accommodation and support they need,” she said.

“Some impacted residents were moved from water-damaged facilities in late January following a storm, which caused flash flooding in the surrounding area.

“Other residents chose to relocate to alternative providers, and we have provided support and advice to them in order to facilitate this.”

A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Aged Care told The SOURCE they are working closely with Barwon Health to understand the impacts of the flooding.
