Quirindi Care Services in NSW’s Northern Region set to be part of Apollo Care’s network

1 min read

With losses increasing and compliance pressures rising, the operator of the 68-bed residential aged care home and 18 independent living units, 350km northwest of Sydney, will vote on 14 July on a takeover by the specialist aged care provider.

Kim Riley, General Manager of Quirindi Care Services, told The Weekly Source stakeholders have been informed and invited to attend an information session with the board and senior executives from Apollo Care.

Chair Mike Lomax said the proposal to transition ownership to the national aged care provider, which acquired its 13th aged care home in May, had been "largely accepted" by members, residents, and staff, The Inverell Times reported.

After recording a loss of $878,070 in 2023-24 (down from a loss of $241,961 in 2022-23), the Quirindi Care Services Board recognised its aged care home and independent units would not be viable in the longer term and began seeking a new operator with "scale, experience, and capital" that could take on the operation and continue providing care in the community.

As with all Apollo aged care communities, Quirindi Care Services will likely retain its name under the new structure, if approved, with the new owner improving technology, facilities, and hospitality services.
