RLC looks to update its research base in 2023

The Retirement Living Council (RLC) is looking to refresh its thought leadership and research base to improve its advocacy efforts in 2023.

Speaking to The Weekly SOURCE, Executive Director Daniel Gannon (above) – who has highlighted education as one of the peak body’s key priorities – said the RLC has been heavily relying on research and analysis from 2013.

“Some of this quantitative data needs to be updated, not just to reflect the contemporary nature of the industry but also provide more accurate costings to government and to provide more accurate benefits to taxpayers around Australia,” he said.

Daniel says that the RLC aims to build a “compelling library of research” that can help explain to politicians the risks and opportunities in the sector.

“It’s important that we equip ourselves with the best research, the best evidence to take to decision makers around the country to explain to them both the positive opportunities but also the consequences of poor policymaking.

“Unless we have the right research, unless we have the right thought leadership in our library, then we’ll fall short every time we put a set of asks to politicians,” he said.

The RLC has a number of state-based retirement living industry events coming up over the next two months; these include:

Additionally, the 2023 National Retirement Living Summit, including the Retirement Living Awards, is scheduled for 21-23 June on the Gold Coast.
