Sod turned for The Ivy Anderson Home’s aged care facility in QLD’s Central Highlands

The Ivy Anderson Home charity has raised $300,000, which will accompany over $4 million from the Federal Government's Building Better Regions fund, to be able to turn the sod on a much-needed facility for medium-level care and aged care in Springsure, 66km south of Emerald, in Queensland’s Central Highlands Region.

The fundraising has been taking place over many years and the new facility will complement the 28 independent living units owned by the State and local Governments, which are fully occupied.

“We’re ecstatic that the Federal Government saw the need for our facility and granted us such a great contribution,” said Home committee member Gail Nixon.

The Ivy Anderson Home committee purchased the block in Springsure to construct a nine-unit facility with eight units, around an internal courtyard, for elderly persons and a caretaker.

“It’s extraordinarily important that we allow those who want to stay in their home communities to be close to their families, and this facility will allow them to do so,” said Federal MP Ken O’Dowd, who is retiring at the soon-to-be announced election.
