Sydney war widows face eviction after Not For Profit runs out of cash

1 min read

The War Widows Guild says it has “run out of liquid funds” to care for 14 widows at its two remaining properties in Drummoyne and Dolls Point.

The Guild has sold nine properties since 2002 and want to redevelop the Drummoyne property into 20 apartments.

They are currently working with RSL LifeCare to find similar accommodation for one resident, but the others are not eligible for protection under the Retirement Villages Act.

All understandable but the story does not read well for the retirement village sector. The RSL LifeCare solution is desirable and commendable.
