Patients recovering from illness who enrolled in a trial with Danish telehealth company Epital Health are now able to monitor their conditions at home using specialised equipment, logging their data into a centralised system, a panel discussion at the 2025 LEADERS SUMMIT heard.
Changes in a patient’s condition are quickly detected, leading to adjustments in medication, consultations with specialists or nurses, visits to the GP, or even emergency hospital trips.
The trial, which currently focuses on patients with lung disease but plans to expand, has already resulted in a 50% reduction in hospitalisations compared to a control group, as well as a 70% decrease in emergency visits and GP appointments.
The proactive model, and how similar approaches can work in Australia, were the topic of a panel led by Phil Offer, CEO of medication management platform BESTMED and featuring Beverly Smith, Chief Commercial Officer at Amplar Health, as well as Chris Baynes, CEO of DCM Group.
Epital Health CEO Hans Erik Henriksen appeared by video.
This session was one of more than two dozen held at LEADERS SUMMIT 2025, DCM Group’s flagship strategy and networking event focused on the challenges and opportunities facing aged care and retirement living operators.
