1 min read

Taylor Construction is pushing ahead with the 153 independent living unit expansion at Uniting Westmead, with the redevelopment scheduled to open in the first half of 2027.

The project marks Stage 2 of Uniting’s innovative Westmead precinct, located 26km west of Sydney’s CBD.

Stage 1 delivered Block A with 32 independent living units, 114 aged care rooms, a dementia day centre, wellness facilities, staff offices, village shops and two basement levels. Block B added 36 independent living units, an early learning centre, and a connected basement carpark.

Stage 2 will comprise three seven-storey residential buildings housing 40, 50 and 63 independent living units respectively. Each apartment will include private balconies or terraces, with shared common areas and roof slabs accommodating plant and equipment. The expansion will also feature an indoor swimming pool, a landscaped ‘village green’, basement carparking, and new community spaces.

Adrian Ciano, Uniting NSW.ACT’s Head of Property Development, said construction had reached two major milestones, with the completion of the basement structure and the podium slabs.

“These milestones mark the transition from groundwork to the exciting stage where the buildings start to rise. The buildings are expected to ‘top out’, and reach their full height over the summer, marking another significant milestone in the construction process.

“Uniting Westmead is on track for completion during the first half of 2027 and we look forward to welcoming new people to the Westmead Community.”
