IRT calls on locals to help shape major Moruya seniors living on NSW Far South Coast

1 min read

Community-owned aged care and retirement living provider IRT is asking the public to help shape the future of seniors housing in Moruya, a historic township on the NSW Far South Coast.

IRT has released a draft masterplan for a major new seniors living development in the area and is inviting locals to a community drop-in session or online webinar to learn more, ask questions, and share feedback.

The provider already has a strong footprint in the Eurobodalla region, operating retirement villages and aged care centres in Moruya, Dalmeny, and Batemans Bay

The proposal is for a mix of retirement living, residential aged care, and key worker accommodation, supported by on-site amenities such as a health centre, library, café and clubhouse, IRT said in a statement.

The organisation said the proposed development has been deemed State Significant (over $30 million capital cost) and will be assessed by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. IRT has already lodged a State Significant Development Application for its Woonona site in Wollongong.

“Our vision is to deliver a vibrant, regional seniors’ living hub that offers thoughtfully designed homes, as well as lifestyle and wellbeing opportunities that support older people through all stages of ageing,” said IRT’s Interim CEO Ross Gallagher.

The community drop in session is at Mechanics Institute, 13 Page Street Moruya NSW, on Tuesday 12 August 2025. Registration is encouraged. Please RSVP online here by Monday, 11 August.
