New co-operative retirement community at Witchcliffe Ecovillage in WA

1 min read

The Not For Profit Kyloring Housing Co-operative, is planning a 25 home retirement community within a new housing development near the Margaret River 280km south of Perth.

It is part of Witchcliffe Ecovillage, a residential co-housing community being built in the small town by Sustainable Settlements and Perron Group.

The project will offer a new funding model for retirement living using the co-operative legal structure, which will also offer opportunities for the community to invest in the project.

The residents of the Kyloring Housing Co-operative will be the co-operative’s members, meaning they will own and control the co-operative and make decisions about the development and ongoing management of their homes.

“We’re just in the planning stages so far,” said WA Co-operation Housing CEO Eugenie Stockmann. “People interested in making Kyloring their home have an opportunity to be involved with the building and planning stages of the unique housing project to ensure it meets their needs".

“We’re expecting about 25 homes, so we’re looking for about 25 households to come on this journey.”
