Sod turned on 372-home Ingenia Lifestyle Kō in Gordonvale, Far North Queensland

ASX-listed Ingenia Communities has broken ground on its 29th land lease community – and its first in Far North Queensland – with a sod-turning ceremony at Ingenia Lifestyle Kō in Gordonvale.

The 372-home project takes its name from the Hawaiian word for sugar, reflecting Gordonvale’s sugar industry heritage and tropical surrounds.

Adam Forrester, Ingenia Communities’ Head of Development for Queensland, said the new development is a response to local need, and will play a pivotal role in the region’s projected growth.

“The number of people aged 50+ in the Cairns region is expected to grow by more than 23,000 by 20461, and Ingenia Lifestyle Kō will play an important role in ensuring they have a place to call home,” he said.

“We’ve wanted to bring Ingenia Lifestyle further north for some time, but it needed to be the right place and the right community. This isn’t just a realisation of a plan for us, it’s a commitment to the Gordonvale community and the future of the region."

Once completed, Ingenia Lifestyle Kō will feature 372 homes with resident amenities to include an architecturally designed clubhouse, featuring a pool, large outdoor BBQ area, spacious dining and gymnasium. The homes will feature a range of one- and two-bedroom designs, each with solar panels installed as well as energy saving appliances to help reduce residents’ home running costs.

As part of the community’s sustainability efforts, the site will also feature community gardens for residents to grow their own produce.

Ingenia Lifestyle Kō’s sales suite is now open in Gordonvale, with the first homes to start selling early next year.
