Thumbs up for $3.7M Perth seniors living and childcare development

1 min read

A $3.7 million intergenerational development has been given the go-ahead in Perth, with land owner Powerstar approved for a two-storey childcare centre and six seniors’ living homes in Mt Claremont.

The six homes on the northern half of the Montgomery Avenue site will be single-storey, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an outdoor living area. They will be restricted to residents who are either aged 55 or over, or have a disability that necessitates special care or independent living housing.

The southern half of the site will house the early childhood education and care (ECEC) centre, a “contemporary upside-down” building that will be able to accommodate up to 93 children aged zero to five years.

All panellists on the Perth Metro Inner North Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) approved the plan, except for two councillors from the City of Nedlands.
