VincentCare Community Housing plan 84 over-55s senior housing units

1 min read

The subsidiary of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria wants to transform an 18,211sqm site with 30 independent living units over six buildings at Kennington, a suburb of Bendigo

Affordable Housing Solutions has submitted plans by E Plus Architecture for 84 affordable homes for residents aged 55 years and over to the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning

There would be 64 one-bedroom homes and 20 two-bedroom homes in a mix of apartments and townhouses across four of the buildings. A fifth building would host a community hub with a conference room, two office spaces, two interview rooms for prospective residents, workstations, a kitchen and an outdoor area with a pergola.

Residents in the 30 independent living units would be moved into one of the new buildings during the first stage of construction.

The proposed project is part of the Big Housing Build, Victoria Government’s program to create more affordable and social housing near amenities and transport across the state.

VincentCare plans to make all 84 homes affordable and will partner with Homes Victoria on the project.
