GemLife creates innovative marketing targeting grey nomads with 5 motorhomes for residents

1 min read

A year ago, GemLife launched The Explore, which is five Jayco Conquest DX Motorhomes, which GemLife residents can use with prices well below market rates. In the first year the five have travelled 1,682 days out of a potential 1,825 - or 92% occupancy.

Heavily decked out in GemLife branding, they are a big talking point in all the camping and grey nomad destinations around the country, GemLife’s target audience.

Gold Coast-based land lease owner/operators GemLife call it an industry first.

“We have had back-to-back bookings since it’s been set in motion. Over 100 residents have hired the Explore motorhomes in our first year, and all five motorhomes have been on the road for a total of 1682 days,” GemLife Director of Sales & Marketing, Andrew Coulter said.

“The trips have varied from three to 137 days with the average holiday lasting 12 days, and our eye-catching motorhomes have been seen everywhere from the white sandy beaches of the Whitsundays to the more remote outback towns of Eulo, Noccundra and Longreach as well as quiet hideaways such as Green Hills Lake in Victoria.”

There have been 19 repeat bookings in the past year, with one couple hiring the motorhome four times.

GemLife Director and CEO Adrian Puljich (pictured at the Leaders Summit in May, said the initiative recognised the importance of travel for the over 50s market.

“Our homeowners are active and have a huge passion for travel. Many residents owned motorhomes or caravans which hadn’t been utilised as much as they had expected, while others wanted an avenue to explore the country without the hassle of acquisition costs,”
he said.

“We knew we had to come up with a solution which would allow them to continue living the lifestyle they desired without dealing with corresponding capital outlay and ongoing costs of registration, servicing and maintenance.”

GemLife Bribie Island homeowners have spent a total of 834 days on the road, the highest number amongst all GemLife resorts. Bribie Island is the company’s first resort.
