TriCare's $87.6M integrated expansion of coastal retirement village on exhibition
TriCare Hastings Point in NSW’s Tweed Shire, with the four extra buildings proposed

The family-owned aged care and retirement village operator has been operating 91 independent living units across three buildings at the site which were approved in May 2007.

Now TriCare wants to expand its site in Hastings Point, a town in NSW’s Tweed Shire, with a $87.6 million project for:

  • a four-storey residential care facility (Building D) with 47 beds;

  • three four-storey residential flat buildings (Buildings E-G) with a total of 51 independent living units;
  • ancillary facilities located within Building D including a café, communal lounge and dining areas, staff offices and nurse stations;

  • on-site communal facilities including a lawn bowls area and pavilion, an indoor swimming pool and a walking trail along the perimeter of the site; and
  • 115 parking spaces.

TriCare had originally sought to build 94 supported living units and 67 residential aged care beds across four buildings.

The application, environmental impact statement and accompanying documents are on exhibition from Tuesday 20 January 2026 until Monday 2 February 2026.

The population of Hastings Point, NSW, was 661 people in the 2021 Census.

TriCare operates nine retirement villages; and 16 aged care facilities in Brisbane, Gold Coast and regional Queensland with one, Williams Landing, in Melbourne.
