Two more residents pass away at Newmarch House – both negative for COVID-19

The two residents passed away on Friday and Sunday nights respectively – both after testing negative for coronavirus.

The resident who died on Sunday had previously tested positive for COVID-19, but had returned two negative tests before passing according to Anglicare. This death will not be counted as part of Australia’s national coronavirus death toll.

The resident on Friday night was confirmed by NSW Health to have had COVID-19 and recovered, but had other co-morbidities, media reports state.

The deaths now bring the total number at the home to 17 – with 19 linked to the virus and its after-effects.

There are now 69 confirmed cases linked to the aged care home – 37 residents and 32 staff.

On Friday, 96 staff and 24 residents were tested for the virus while on Saturday, 22 residents and 87 staff were tested.
