US: pharmacy software provider sets up partnership to offer DNA testing for aged care residents over medication

Integra Group, a software provider that specialises in long-term care, has joined with medication management platform MedTek21 to host in-house genomic testing for residents with the aim of cutting down on adverse reactions to prescription drugs – a major cause of hospital readmissions for residents. “Patients react to medications differently,” Tabb Stringer, Vice President of Product Management for Integra, said. But using Medtek21’s technology, a cheek swab can alert pharmacists to the correct medication and dosage for the residents and can also be used for medication reviews.
