Levande has begun construction on its Hills Showground retirement village in Castle Hill, 34km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, the third of seven project milestone events the operator is hosting in less than a month.

Hindmarsh Construction is delivering the Hills Showground project on a site previously approved for 242 residential apartments.

The development will comprise 217 independent living apartments across five buildings, supported by a range of amenities.

Levande Head of Development for NSW and Queensland Calum Ross said the village had been designed to support ageing in place while maintaining independence.

“The apartments are designed to be fully adaptable to support ageing in place while maintaining independence and quality of life,” Calum said.
“Where we’re standing today will form the heart of the village for the ground floor clubhouse and a landscaped central courtyard built around these fantastic established trees, creating a natural floating point for the community beyond the village itself.”

Calum said the location was a major advantage for residents.

“This site is exceptionally well located. It’s close to public transport, including the Metro, close to retail services and health facilities, and well connected to open space and recreation,” he said.
“Most importantly, it allows older Australians to remain in the community they know and love, close to family, friends and familiar networks while continuing to live independently.”

Levande Hills Showground is being developed in three stages.

The EQT-owned retirement village operator also has several other projects progressing:

  • Bentleigh East, 14km southeast of Melbourne’s CBD: Thursday, 12 March will host a sod turning for the redevelopment of former light industrial land into a new village for around 400 residents across four buildings. Stage one is for 85 apartments, with the final development to boast over 250 apartments.
