LDK Seniors’ Living enters QLD with Brisbane bayside acquisition

LDK Seniors’ Living has secured its first Queensland site, purchasing a 2.1ha landholding in the bayside suburb of Brighton, 27.9km north of Brisbane’s CBD, from the Uniting Church.

The site attracted nine formal offers and 187 enquiries, reflecting the scarcity of large-scale infill opportunities in coastal Brisbane, according to the sellers.

“The buyer was drawn to the area’s premium coastal setting and demographic profile, which aligns perfectly with their upmarket seniors living model,” said CBRE’s Will Carman, who managed the sale alongside John Nucifora.

Zoned Community Facilities (Health Care Purposes Precinct) under the Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan, the site offers significant development flexibility.

LDK takes on Queensland

Byron Cannon, CEO of LDK Seniors’ Living, said the project marked a milestone for the group. “We are thrilled to be bringing our innovative seniors living model to Queensland. This landmark site ensures our One Move Promise – with 24/7 care, lifestyle for life and simple contracts – will be delivered in the best possible way, in our home state,” he said.

“There remains a significant shortage of high-quality senior living options that seamlessly support the continuum from independent living to aged care. This project marks a meaningful step toward fulfilling our vision: to ensure every senior Australian experiences their ageing journey with Love, Decency, and Kindness.”

The acquisition follows LDK’s rapid growth in NSW and the ACT. The operator will welcome its first residents into Stage 2 of Amberfield in Canberra next month, a $100 million development delivering 127 apartments, including two specialist dementia homes and care apartments designed by Rothelowman. Amberfield is the second stage of a $500 million, five-stage project.

LDK’s portfolio also includes Greenway Views in Tuggeranong, Canberra, and The Landings at North Turramurra on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, acquired in 2018.
