Aged care assaults increased by 8% last financial year to nearly 2,000

Across Australia 222,316 people live in the 2,725 residential aged care facilities. Last financial year 1,971 residents were assaulted (0.88% of residents), including 309 sexually, according to the Department of Health and Ageing. This is an increase of 146 complaints. The same report said 95% of care facilities had perfect accreditation scores.
