Revealed yesterday, Retirement By Moran beat over a dozen competitors to win perhaps Sydney’s last prime retirement village and care development site after an extensive Expression of Interest campaign by Shane Nicholson, National Director, Health, Aged Care & Retirement, for real estate business Commercial Collective.
In April Wesley announced it was closing its three remaining RACs, Wesley Rayward Carlingford, Wesley Taylor Narrabeen at 156 Ocean Street, and Wesley Vickery Sylvania.
In a statement the CEO and Superintendent, Rev. Stuart Cameron said “The Aged Care sector is experiencing challenges to workforce and flow-on impacts from the national reforms to Aged Care. It is a challenging environment to be a smaller provider. With just three aged care locations, our offering in this area is small compared to the large and diverse range of community services we provide around NSW and across Australia.”
The Narrabeen property of 9,000sqm just meters from the beach is zoned R3 and suitable for retirement villages and aged care.
Sally Taylor, CEO of Retirement By Moran, tells us that they will redevelop the site as a substantial retirement village with a care component.
Retirement By Moran is the village arm of Dr Shane Moran’s Provectus Care, which has four upscale aged care homes. The village arm has two locations in Sydney, The Rose at Wahroonga and an in-development site close to Cronulla beach.
With the aged care home closed, a number of Wesley village residents remain on the site, with a ‘respectful’ process to be run to support their positions.
Wesley Mission confirmed Retirement by Moran is the preferred operator to take on the Wesley Taylor Retirement Village as a going concern.
"A period of due diligence is currently underway and on the basis of that process, Retirement by Moran may purchase the Village as a going concern," said a spokeswoman.
