Alert: unannounced re-accreditation audits for aged care facilities start 1 July – you can be prepared

1 min read

The new arrangements will apply to all aged care services applying for re-accreditation from 1 July 2018 as well as those with an accreditation expiry date on, or after, 1 January 2019.

Previously operators would be advised by AACQA of upcoming audits.

As discussed by Mirus Managing Director James Price in his LEADERS SUMMIT presentation last week, the auditors will arrive prepared with Medicare data covering 150 points on every resident – and they will check the skills of workers against their resident needs.

Operators can now be equally prepared, backed by the same data, while also reducing costs.

He told the room that Queensland-based Not For Profit Ozcare had cut $1.1 million in seven months while maintaining its care quality and workforce by implementing Mirus systems which allows providers to see what skills its staff have and what workers it has in the field at any time, adjusting them to the Medicare profile of their residents.
